Yoga for Cyclists

Long-distance bicycle touring is tough on your body. You spend hours a day cramped up in a position that is hard on your wrists, neck, shoulders, back and legs, so it’s important to spend a little bit of time each day stretching to show your body a little love for all its hard work!

We’re currently fortunate enough to have access to an incredible yoga studio in our little community called Metamorphose Yoga Studio. We’re even luckier that our friend and teacher, Carol Dumeyer, owner of the studio, was willing to put together a sequence of postures designed specifically with our adventure in mind! We filmed the 30-minute class so whenever the road makes us too weary, we can be digitally transported back to our little yoga oasis in Kilauea.

To our fellow cyclists, we hope you take advantage and follow along with this class regularly. Carol is a truly talented teacher with a background in yoga, meditation, massage and anatomy. She has been teaching yoga & anatomy on Kauai since 2005, is a RYT and has studied Ashtanga, Anusara, Iyengar, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga with many acclaimed teachers around the globe. On Maui, she worked as a bicycle mechanic and rode her bike 10 miles to and from work each day, so you can trust that you’re being guided by an expert who understands the physical stress of daily cycling!

To Carol, though we can’t wait to see the world by bike, we will miss you and look forward to coming back to Kauai to share what we learn over some pasta and wine! Thank you again for helping us put this together and being so supportive of our trip.

Namaste!

Matt & Haley
