Cycle Route: Kuala Lumpur to Tanjung Malim, Malaysia
The total distance of our route was 63.52 miles (102.23 km).
|Max Elevation||531.5 ft||162 m|
|Min Elevation||101.7 ft||31 m|
|Total Climbing||10,449.5 ft||3,185 m|
|Total Descent||10,603.7 ft||3,232 m|
This ride was tough. We started the day on a major highway with a few big hills. About 15 miles into our ride we were picked up by highway patrol because it was too dangerous for us to be cycling. They drove us a few miles to the next exit where we could take a smaller road north.
Once we got to Tanjung Malim, we cycled 6 miles out of the way to 2 hotels and somehow they were both booked. We grit our teeth and cycled another 20 miles to stay at Hotel Sahara for 110 ringgit. It wasn’t the cleanest hotel, but after a tough ride, we just needed a bed. It had AC, hot water and good wi-fi.
Our couchsurfing hosts, Carl & Aditi, saw us off with a hearty breakfast and hot coffee. We ate nasi padang for lunch for 18 ringgit. Around 7pm, when we finally made it to our hotel for the night, we ate a 7-Eleven dinner of milk and cereal for 16 ringgit and passed out almost immediately.
One night at Hotel Sahara and our meals cost us 144 ringgit. Altogether, we spent around $45.23 USD in Tanjung Malim.
